MODERNISING AND RUNNING THE SORTING CENTER

The Paris SYCTOM (Europe’s largest waste management union) handed the running of its separate collection sorting centers over to iHOL as part of a public service delegation contract.

With the new managers came upgrades at every level : a full modernisation of the sorting line (using the company’s own money), improved working conditions for the personnel and a new team’s organisational strategy.

Thanks to the major renovation project, the environmental and economic objectives set by the SYCTOM have been achieved.

Newspapers, magazines, paper, cardboard, cartons, tins, aerosols, metal cans and six categories of plastic are sorted here and prepared for recycling by 33 agents. Additionally, an experimental process has been implemented to handle every type of plastic packaging.

CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF THE SORTING CENTER, WASTE RECYCLING CENTER AND BULKY REFUSE PROCESSING

Located in Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes), this unit was designed and built by iHOL Group.

In 2008, the existing line was upgraded thanks to the leadership and financial backing of iHOL Group. With the addition of a ballistic separator, three optical sorting machines, an aluminium separator and a sorting table for flat objects, it has been possible to significantly reduce the processing costs for the local authorities and increase the center’s productivity. This cutting-edge technology has also been the foundation for partnerships with Nespresso and CELAA concerning recycling for small aluminium objects.

In 2010, this installation was chosen by the Eco-Emballages organisation as their national pilot site for the quality of its sorting facilities and their general environmental strategy (the use of Eddy currents).

As of today, Géodéo sorts 28,000 tons of selectively collected waste per year from almost every commune in the Alpes-Maritime area, the eastern Var department and the Principality of Monaco.

The site also includes the largest waste collecting and sorting center in the Alpes-Maritimes area, receiving almost 30,000 tons of bulky waste per year.
